Speech pathology -Paediatric

 Description of Service
A Paediatric Speech Pathology Service is available at Nillumbik Community Health Service to provide short to medium term assistance for families with children aged from birth to school entry.  Due to the high demand of this service, a waiting list applies.

Speech Pathology Services can provide:

• Assessment
• Advice
• Therapy
• Home programs
• Education for families and professionals
• Liaison with other agencies involved (preschool, school, doctors, maternal and child health nurse.

Why children are referred?

children may be referred for the following reasons:

• Delay with starting to talk
• Stuttering
• Unclear speech
• Difficulties answering questions and following directions
• Problems putting sentences together (using language)
• Difficulties playing and using social language skills
