Internet Safety Do's and Don'ts

 

iiiiiiiDO NOT go onto inappropriate websites. This includes pornographical websites or promos that say "YOU HAVE WON..."

 

      DO NOT spend hours on MSN unless you know the person. If you don't, you may be talking to a paedophile.

 

     DO NOT give out your details to people over the internet, because people may hurt you or take your details off you. For example, name, suburb, favourite coffee shop, sporting activities or holiday information make it easy for people to track to you down.

 

     DO NOT put photos on the net that show your face or your friends faces. Likewise photos in your school uniform or the front of your house can assist people to track you down.

 

      DO NOT send viruses to other people. This can be damaging to other people or their computers, and files may be corrupted as a result.

 

      DO NOT spread rumours or gossip. This can be very harmful to the person it is aimed at, and it can get you into trouble.

 

      DO tell someone if there is someone else who is telling rumours or sending viruses. They can get into serious trouble if it continues!!!

 

      Keep personal information to yourself. If on the internet, you don't know who you could be talking to.

 

      When you are having conversations and deicde to meet someone who you met over the internet; always take someone with you. If the person makes out they are someone who they are not, then you can be protected by your friends.
