North East Primary Mental Health Team (Co-located Service)

The North East Primary Mental Health Team is a Mental Health Programme of the North East Area Mental Health Service, Austin Health.

The North East Primary Mental Health Team is a multi disciplinary team of mental health clinicians and includes a Consultant Psychiatrist, two Clinical Psychologists and a Social Worker. The team provides support to Primary Care Providers (eg GP’s, Community Health Centre Counsellors) located in Banyule and Nillumbik.

We provide support to GP’s and other primary health care providers working with people across the lifespan with mental health problems. These will include anxiety and depression. 

We also work with young people aged 16-25 with early psychosis or other significant psychological disturbance. 

The team can offer mental health assessments, consultation and liaison and individual and group interventions to the clients of these service providers.

There is a Primary Mental Health Team in each Area Mental Health Service across the State. The location of the Primary Care Provider determines which PMHT will offer a service to the referrer and their client. Referrals to the NE PMHT can only be made by Primary Care Providers located in Banyule and Nillumbik. No self-referrals can be made.

The team operates Monday to Friday, 9-5.

The NE PMHT has offices at Banyule Community Health Service, Nillumbik Community Health Service and at the North East Community Mental Health Service (NECMHS).
