Maternal Child & Health & ImmunisationServices delivered on behalf of Nillumbik Shire
Council by Nillumbik Community Health Service. After the birth of your child, a Maternal & Child Health Nurse will call and arrange to visit you at home. After the initial visit, parents are invited to attend the nearest MCH Centre. One of the strengths of the service is reflected in the individual consultations with parents to discuss their child's health & development. There is DHS schedule of visits and the nurse is available for additional consultations and queries. A zoning system operates for the distribution of Birth Notifications from hospitals; this zoning identifies a Centre that is closest to your home. However parents may attend any MCH Centre of their choice. All centreheld child records are now stored on computer and can be accessed from any centre, which makes it easier for a parent to attend another centre. Centre appointments are now made electronically and can also be accessed from any centre. Immunisations are provided at 6 sessions per month from 4 venues across Nillumbik. Vaccinations are offered according to National Immunisation Program guidelines. The nurses are all well informed about the current immunisation guidelines & procedures.
