Vacancies Board of Directors

 

Nillumbik Community Health Service (NCHS) is non-profit independent agency with the purpose of improving the health and well-being of its community. NCHS is a Company Limited by Guarantee and a registered Community Health Service with the Department of Health to receive funding to deliver a range of health services, prevention and health promotion activities. NCHS works to promote the physical, psychological and social well-being of people in the Nillumbik community and surrounding areas.
The Board of Directors at Nillumbik Community Health Service (NCHS) have a strong commitment to maintaining good governance across all aspects of NCHS and provide leadership by establishing and regularly reviewing the Vision, Mission and Values of NCHS in line with government policy and community needs. The Directors assist in maintaining legal compliance and high ethical standards of operation; and in establishing and reviewing the duties and responsibilities of the CEO. Directors also have responsibility to undertake and approve the Strategic and Business plans; and to approve and monitor the Annual Budget.
For effective Board performance, individual Board Directors and the Board collectively need to have a broad range of skills and personal attributes such as, understanding, knowledge of and commitment to the community being served, accountability, strategic thinking, networking and team work which can be considered to be core competencies.
The Board has recently undertaken a review and has identified the need for succession planning to ensure continuity and knowledge in all areas of the Board’s responsibilities.
To support this planning and to ensure the Board maintains a full complement of Directors, NCHS is seeking applications from individuals with a sound understanding of the principles of good governance and demonstrated previous experience as a member of a Board. This will include working within a regulated environment meeting the reporting requirements to the Australian Securities and Investment Commission and the Department of Health.

We are seeking individuals with strong background experience in such areas as:

  • Accounting and Financial Management
  • Marketing
  • Business and Strategy Development
  • Health Planning
  • Infrastructure and Property Development.

Interested parties must:

  • Be over the age of 18 years
  • Be an individual not a company
  • Have a desire to promote the health and wellbeing of the Nillumbik community, and advocate on issues of relevance.
  • Be prepared to attend a monthly Board meeting and participate on one of the a Sub-Committee of the Board
