Is your child experiencing communication difficulties? New Saturday speech pathology sessions now available.

Nillumbik Community Health Service is running a trial of speech pathology sessions for families with children under six years of age. These will take place one Saturday morning each month from March through to August 2010.

Speech pathology is able to assist families who are concerned about communication issues including their child’s use of first words or sentences, understanding of language, clarity of speech, or if the child is stuttering.

CEO of Nillumbik Community Health Service, Amanda Murphy said, “offering the service on a Saturday morning will reduce the time parents wait for speech pathology; address parent concerns and increase access to community health services for working families”.

A family can access the service if their child is aged under six years; who are not accessing speech pathology elsewhere and are not eligible for early intervention services.

A fee does apply which is determined by household income and the number of children in the family. No family will be denied the service on the basis of inability to pay a fee.

For further information and/or to make an appointment for a speech pathology Saturday session, please contact the Service Co-ordination team at Nillumbik Community Health Service on (03) 9430 9100.
